Obituary

Wilmer E. Loppnow, 88, Morrison, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, March 7, 2023. He was born June 28, 1934, to the late Carl and Cora (Natzke) Loppnow.

He was united in marriage to Barb Engelbrecht on April 19, 1958, just short of 65 years.

Wilmer will be best remembered traveling by horse and buggy down the main road in Morrison, or starting up a game of Sheepshead with a neighbor. He enjoyed farming the land and was known to play a joke or two. Wilmer taught the grandkids to play cards and loved to sneak them soda and ice cream. It was common to stop by his home, sit on the front porch with him, and sip a beer. He had a knowledge of cattle and loved showing off his horses and goats. An avid football fan, Wilmer enjoyed watching the games, especially the Packers.

He is survived by his wife Barb, their children; Gail (Dan) Bruegge, Dan Loppnow, Greg Loppnow, Becky (Mike) Conard, and Shellie (Scott) Trettin. Grandchildren; Brad (Nicki), Brian (Megan), Bethany (special friend Dave), Anna (Zach), Will, Jaiden and Kaleb. Great grandchildren; Mitchell, Trevor, Lilly, Claire, Ben, Cora, and Iola. Wilmer is further survived by his brother Norm Loppnow, brothers-in-law Edgar (Harriet) Engelbrecht, Ray Engelbrecht, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Marvin Loppnow, Arvilla (Marvin) Kuchenbecker, Florence (Lloyd) Kuchenbecker, Verna (Gil) Borchardt, Irene (Al) Zeamer, and sister-in-law Jean Loppnow.
