Obituary

On July 4, 2018 God called home a beautiful and gentle soul. Norbie was born on September 2, 1927 in the town of Morrison to Rudolph and Hilda (Loppnow) Borchardt and was baptized into God's grace the following day. He farmed with his family until he was called to serve in the US Army; which he proudly did from 1954-1956. Upon his return he met and married the love of his life, Jeanette Lillian Pantzlaff on August 17, 1958. God blessed them with 3 children: Evan, a still-born son, and Fay. Norbie and Jeanette worked hand in hand to grow their family dairy farm and to raise their children with Christian values. Norbie had seemingly endless energy and dedication to his family and additionally worked as a milk truck driver in the days of milk cans, helped out at a mink ranch, and transported children to school for 16 years as a driver for Brandt Buses. After retiring from dairy farming he raised beef and worked part-time as a grounds keeper at Wander Springs golf course for a number of years. This amazing man had a heart of gold and an appreciation for life; from the joy on his face in the presence of a grandchild to the beauty of God's nature around him. He led by example; a quiet strength and integrity he was content in his life and exemplified kindness, honesty, and good humor. Survivors include his son: Evan and daughter-in-law Brenda; his daughter Fay (Paul Martin); grandchildren: Aaron Borchardt, Hannah (Adam) Ropson: great-grandchildren: Raygen and Roland Ropson. In his heart and theirs, Dad to Bonnie (Tom) Crossman and Grandpa to their children; Tim and Chloe Crossman. Siblings: Bernadine Lemke, Marvin (Elaine) Borchardt, and Esther Lemke. Step-siblings: Clarence "Butch" (Jo) Koch, John (Carol) Koch, Marilyn (Steve) Hook. Sisters-in-law: Verna Borchardt, Alberta Borchardt, Dorothy Zenke, Carol Borchardt, Lois Hansen, and Grace (Neil) Mills. Brother-in-laws: Eugene (MaryEllen) Pantzlaff, Harold (Charlie) Pantzlaff, Earl (Krissy) Pantzlaff, Raymond Pantzlaff, David Pantzlaff, Dan (Julie) Pantzlaff. Nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded by his wife, Jeanette; infant son; parents, Rudolph and Hilda; step-mother, Malinda Koch Borchardt; in-laws, Ewald and Lillian Pantzlaff. Brothers: Gilbert, Wilbert (Doris, Caroline), Melvin, Edward, and Meinie. Sisters: Lorina (Melvin Hahn, Sylvester Fels) and Luella (Donald Miller). Brothers-in-law: Lester Lemke and Theodore Lemke.
