Van Der Wegen
January 31, 1942 – February 1, 2025
Lawrence (Larry) Gordon Van Der Wegen, 83, passed away in the afternoon on February 1, 2025 at Aurora Bay Care Hospital. Larry was born on January 31, 1942 to the late Robart Sr. and Alice Van Der Wegen.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army Corp from 1964-1966 as a private, and became a jeep driver for High ranked officers. He also earned his GED while in the service. On November 5, 1966, he married Harriet H. Wegner at Morrison Zion Lutheran Church.
Larry was employed by his father Robert from 1958-1974. In September of 1974 he became employed by Brillion Iron Works until his retirement in 2000. In 2001, he started at Wander Spring Golf course in Lawn Maintenance. He retired in 2014.
He was an avid hunter, traveling as far as New Foundland, Canada and out west, also hunting up north at our cabin in Tipler. He also enjoyed his many trips to Hawaii, as well as playing cribbage with his wife. He had many other hobbies as well.
Larry enjoyed and loved being with his family at family gatherings. He was super proud of how his 3 children got along.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Harriet, his children, Kurt (Kelly) of Little Suamico, Kay (Brian) of Brillion, Kevin "Butch" of Menchelville, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Lenny, sister Denise, and brothers-in-law Jim and Larry, David (Phyllis), Allen, and sisters-in-law Julie (John), as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Jr. (Joyce), sisters Nancy and Diane, sister-in-law Margie, brother-in-law Ron, father and mother-in-law Alvin and Mildred Wegner and sister-in-law Virginia.
Family and friends may come to call on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00AM- 1:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, in Morrison, WI. A funeral service will begin immediately following visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Enderle officiating. Military Honors will be held following the service. Nickel Funeral Home in Morrison, is assisting the family.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center and the first responders and EMT's from the Valders and Reedsville area.
