Jean
Quinnette
January 17, 1955 – May 14, 2023
Jean Marie (Huebner) Quinnette of Menasha, WI passed away peacefully on May 14th at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by family, and loved ones. Jean was born January 17th, 1955, to John and Joan (Olson) Huebner of Neenah, WI. She grew up on S Green Bay Rd behind the Neenah Fire Station along with her four older brothers Jim, Fred, Dave, and Mike whom she referred to as her guardian angels for many years. They spent many summers up on their 80 acres in Lily, WI but while home they took care of the chickens and Jean's horse, King. Eight years later, the Huebner's welcomed youngest child Connie, establishing a friendship for Jean that would last the rest of her life.
Jean graduated high school from Fox Valley Lutheran in 1973, along with working her way up to a brown belt in Judo and started her experience as a lifeguard. After marrying Pete Quinnette June 14, 1975, and settling in Morrison, WI, Jean led a busy life. A loving mom to Jason, Tiffany, and Sara she enjoyed following her kids to events and cheering them on. The family spent summers at Happy Hollow for years, as well as, taking many road trips via Motorhome around the US visiting family and friends. When the girls were in high school, she really enjoyed being a show choir mom to pretty much all the students in Jam Session & Charisma at De Pere High School. One highlight was she along with 2 other mothers made all the costumes by hand for both show choirs, over a 100 of them.
While in Morrison, she helped with the family RV business of Quinnette's in Morrison for many years. Before children, Jean was a physical education instructor for a few years at St. Mary's in Brillion, WI, where she met her lifelong friend Mary & Kitty. Jean was also known around the area for her work at Morrison Café, where she made pies fresh daily and every Wednesday homemade Michigan Pasties. After the café closed and parted ways with Peter, she then served her community at Greenleaf-Wayside Bank as a teller for years. Once her health no longer allowed her to work full time, she kept busy with her love of sewing and could often be found at craft sales & around the area (and beyond) along with Oneida Farmers Markets selling many crafts she had made.
Most of Jean's joys and accomplishments came from her volunteer work. With over 35 years of volunteering with the American Red Cross as an Instructor Trainer for Lifeguarding, WSI, First Aid/CPR along with babysitting training and so much more; some referred to her as "Mean Jean" being a tough instructor but with the most respect. Also, a member of the Eagles Club, she spent her later years as a Senior AmeriCorp Foster grandparent for Encompass Daycare (Green Bay) - even through the pandemic virtually reading stories to the kids. She looked forward to seeing those kids every day, while they even sent pictures of motivations at times she was hospitalized. The friendships she made with other foster grandparents truly meant a lot to her as well. When she was able, she would come watch her own grandkids in Madison, WI at concerts, karate, and other special events. Fortunate enough to see Ophelia, do her entire 1st degree black belt test via FaceTime while she recovered from surgery then a week later was able to come see her get her belt in person. There was no stopping her, on being a proud mom & grandma!
Jean was preceded in death by her parents John and Joan Huebner; brothers, James (Jim) Huebner and Fred Huebner; nephew Lee Huebner; ex-husband Peter Quinnette. She is survived by her children Jason (Rebekah) Quinnette, Tiffany Quinnette, and Sara Whitley. Granddaughters Ophelia Rose and Cordelia Jade Whitley along with her grand dogs Sawyer, Luna, and Willow. She is further survived by siblings: Dave (Jan) Huebner, Mike (Sharon) Huebner and Connie Huebner; sisters-in-law Rebecca (Roth) Huebner, Linda (Pryitz) Huebner; former son-in-law Paul Whitley along with many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Doty Park 701 Lincoln St., Neenah, WI on June 23, 2023, from 3:00-6:00 pm with an Eagle's Club Tribute and Prayer Service starting at 5:30 pm. Some snacks will be served during the celebration.
The family would like to thank all the specialist Jean saw at St. Luke's Hospital Cardiology in Milwaukee along with Aurora Health Care and Prevea Clinics that truly worked together for her to have a better quality of life for the last few years of life.
