Janet Louise (Griebling) Seiltz was born to Arthur and Eleanore (nee Goese) Griebling on July 12, 1941. Her father was the organist, choir director and parish secretary at Grace Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee. She was baptized in July, 1941, attended Walther Memorial Grade School and was confirmed by Rev. Elton Huebner in 1955. Janet then began high school at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Her freshman year was the first class for WLHS. Graduating from high school in 1959, she enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. She graduated from DMLC in 1963 and the college asked her to teach organ for a year which turned into three years. After those three years, she married Paul Seiltz, a recent seminary graduate, on June 26, 1966. Paul was assigned to a parish that served Globe, Safford and Morenci, Arizona. While in Arizona, they had two sons, Timothy and Nathan. After 2 ½ years in Arizona, Paul accepted a call to Jackson, Michigan to help start a new church. Their daughter, Rachel, was born there. After eight years, Paul accepted a call to two churches, Zion Lutheran and Christ Lutheran, both in Door County, Wisconsin. While they were in Door County, Janet taught Kindergarten in Zion Lutheran School. After 19 years in Door County, Paul accepted a call to Faith Lutheran in Pittsburg, Kansas. While in Kansas Janet worked in a local child care near the university. In 2011, Paul retired after 45 years of service in the ministry and Paul and Janet moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At every parish that they served, Janet played for services and directed the choir. Janet is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Joel Seiltz. She is survived by her sister Erica (Henry) Tai Hook of Honolulu, HI; husband Paul and three children Timothy (Shanda) Seiltz, Nathan (Natalie) Seiltz and Rachel (Michael) Helwig. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren Samuel (Maddie) Helwig, Philip Helwig, Brett Seiltz, Isaac Helwig, Alexander Seiltz, Miriam Helwig, Carlos Seiltz, Andrew Seiltz, Gabriel Helwig and Angela Seiltz. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 1292 Tally Ho Trail, Hubertus, Wi 53033. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Helwig presiding. Janet will be laid to rest in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Morrison, WI.
