Obituary

On July 21st, 2018 at the age of 81, Elaine Caroline (Menges) Borchardt, was welcomed home into the loving embrace of our heavenly Father. She was born on February 17, 1937 in Two Rivers to Bernhardt and Gladys (Stelzer) Menges. Christ claimed her to be his own through the waters of baptism on March 7, 1937 at St John's Lutheran Church. This is the same church that she later confirmed her faith in the Lord on March 18, 1951. She attended Washington High School in Two Rivers graduating in 1955. Elaine worked in the office at Paragon in Two Rivers while her fiancé, Marvin Reinhold Borchardt, served in the US Army here and overseas. On November 1, 1958 she married Marvin. God blessed them with four children: Mark, John, Beth, and Sara. Steadfast in their faith they raised their children with Christian values. Her joy was doing her best in being a loving wife and mother, giving thanks and praise to God in all things. She lived a full and blessed life in a beautiful home where the cookie jar was never empty. Great memories were often made gathering around the supper table to enjoy her delicious homemade meals, bread, bakery and laughter. In the early days of their marriage, she sewed most of the families' clothes pouring her love into every stitch and seam. As her children grew she continued with her love of sewing, embroidery, crocheting, quilting and cross-stitch. Many of her projects adorn the homes of family and friends. Elaine and Marvin always enjoyed a love of nature, especially bird watching, and marveled at God's beauty as they took in the scenery as they traveled. In retirement, she and Marvin enjoyed collecting antiques, frequenting many auctions and estates sales in search of "treasures". Singing and playing cards were part of many family celebrations. Survivors include; her loving husband of 59 years, Marvin; children: Mark Borchardt of Two Rivers, John and daughter-in-law Cindy Borchardt of Wayside. Beth and son-in-law Allan Schultz of Reedsville, and Sara and son-in-law Robbie Kvitek of Green Bay; grandchildren: Ben (Alyssa) Borchardt, Abby Borchardt and fiancé Logan Witthuhn, Samuel Schultz, Anne Shultz and special friend Dave Skinkis, and Emily Schultz. She is also survived by her sister Judith Menges; sisters-in-law; Bernadine Lemke, Esther Lemke. Verna Borchardt, Alberta Borchardt, Dorothy Zenke, and Carol Borchardt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
