Scott Baeten Owner & Funeral Director

Scott was born on August 11, 1969 in De Pere to Allen and Janice (Kamps) Baeten. Scott is the youngest of five.

Scott was a 1984 graduate of St. Boniface Grade School and a 1988 graduate of West De Pere High School. In 1992 he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. On September 25, 1992, Scott married the former Carrie Micke at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. Scott and Carrie reside in the Town of Lawrence with their three children.

Scott has also been very active in the Knights of Columbus, and is a Past Grand Knight in Fr. Peters Council 8061 in Freedom, Wisconsin.

Currently Scott is a 3rd Degree member of Abbot Pennings Council 3955 of the Knights of Columbus, in De Pere, a member of Assembly 1724 of the 4th Degree Honor Guard, a member of the St. Norbert Abbey Associates, The Wild Rose Sno-Rovers, West De Pere Snow Owls and Way-Morr Lions Club. He is also a member of Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Wisconsin Funeral Service Alliance, a Past President of the Fox River Valley Funeral Directors Association, and a CANA Certified Crematory Operator.

Scott's wife Carrie is a partner at ISC (Insurance Service Center) in De Pere. Scott and Carrie are members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere, where Scott served as President of the Pastoral Council and School Board member. Currently he serves as an usher, as well as videotapes Masses. In his free time he likes to read and spend time with his family at their cottage in Wild Rose.

James Wolfe Funeral & Managing Director

James "Jim" joined the Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory family in January 2006 and became a licensed funeral director in March 2007.

Jim was born in Janesville, WI and graduated from Janesville Parker High School in 1997. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, graduating in May 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in General Biology.

His beginnings with death care started with a summer job at a local cemetery in Oshkosh, helping with the maintenance of the cemetery grounds. Through his time working in the cemetery, Jim talked to funeral directors, inquiring about their work. In December 2002 he joined the staff of Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes in Oshkosh and started his career in funeral service. During his time with Konrad-Behlman, Jim served his apprenticeship learning the funeral profession. He enrolled at Milwaukee Area Technical College - West Allis, graduating in April 2006 with an Associate Degree in Funeral Service.

James is an active member and past president of the De Pere Noon Optimist Club, volunteers at Green Bay Botanical Gardens, is a member of Current Young Professionals Network Green Bay, Secretary of the De Pere Historical Society, and a member of the De Pere Housing Authority.

Professionally, James is an active member of  and past president of Fox River Valley Funeral Directors Association, Secretary/Treasurer of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association (WFDA), active member of the Selected Independent Funeral Homes (SIFH), Wisconsin Funeral Service and Cremation Alliance (FSCA), member and and a Cremation Association of North American (CANA) Certified crematory operator

Joe Vanden Avond Funeral Director

Joe grew up in De Pere, the son of Keith and Lisa Vanden Avond. He attended Notre Dame Elementary School and Middle School, and graduated from De Pere High School in 2008. He’s proud of the fun fact that both he and Bob Nickel were catchers for De Pere’s baseball team.

After high school, Joe studied at the University of Wisconsin and graduated in spring of 2013. While at Wisconsin, he remained active in his hometown during the summers, coaching for De Pere American Legion Baseball and volunteering at Summer Camp for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Green Bay.

His career in the industry began in Madison, where he worked for Cress Funeral and Cremation Services. He earned his diploma from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 2014 and began working at Ryan Funeral Home shortly thereafter.

 Joe enjoys the City of De Pere's recreation programs, golfing, and singing in the Dudley Birder Chorale. He is a member of the Brown County Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, the Kiwanis Club of De Pere and the Current Young Professionals of Green Bay.

Brittany Van Rossum Funeral Director

Brittany joined Nickel Funeral Home in July 2018. She grew up in Wrightstown, WI and is a graduate from Wrightstown High School.

 

Brittany went on to further her education after high school at UW-Eau Claire, NWTC, and received an Associates Degree in Mortuary Science from Amarillo College in Texas in 2017.

 

She is a member of Morrison Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Morrison and enjoys spending her free time with her family and dog, Bailey.

Bridget Vandelist Advance Funeral Planner

Bridget is our Certified Preplanning Specialist and licensed insurance agent with the State of Wisconsin specializing in funeral trusts and life insurance. With over 15 years of experience, her focus is making sure families are well informed and comfortable with their decisions.

 

Bridget and her husband, Mike live in De Pere with their two boys, Joe & Tommy. Mike is a truck driver, owner of Vandelist, LLC. In the summer, they are at local dirt race tracks cheering on her son Joe. Winters are spent at the De Pere Ice Center where Tommy plays hockey for the De Pere Voyageurs.

 

Bridget is a member of the De Pere Beautification Committee, an election official with the City of De Pere, De Pere Hockey Assoc. member and active in her son’s school and ever growing activities.

 

Growing up in a large Irish Catholic family in Askeaton, family has always been her priority… well, and a good whiskey old fashioned. Bridget is very proud to have been raised with a strong work ethic and grateful to be providing this service to the community.

Peg Wood Part-Time Bookkeeper

Peg was born in West De Pere to Raymond and Karen (Bougie) Brown, the oldest of 3 girls.

 

Peg attended her first 4 years of elementary school at St. Joseph’s Grade School in De Pere and was a 1980 graduate of Immaculate Conception Grade School in Oneida.  She went on to graduate in 1984 from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay.  In 1986 she graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College from an Administrative Assistance program. In July of 1989, Peg married Mike Wood at Immaculate Conception, Oneida. Peg and Mike now reside in the Town of Oneida with their three children, Rebecca, Dallas and Sam.

 

Peg was very involved at Our Lady of Lourdes School while their 3 children attended the school and continues to help out when needed.  She now teaches Religious Education at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and is a member of the Blaise J. Peters Scholarship Fund.

 

Peg and her husband Mike own and operate an embroidery/screen print company, Abbie Road Imprinting, home of TheApronPlace.com.  Peg and Mike are members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere.  In her free time, Peg likes to take care of her chickens, work on craft projects and spend time with family and friends.
